Weird and fun.

Reached DSA main block at 830am for MAPCU Scrabbles. Saw many students from different colleges, in some way look kind of nerdy, but not really. Hahaha.

There was a magic show performed by a guy, don’t know if he is a a student or not. Not bad but i wasn’t impressed. Because Char don’t get easily impressed.

When all colleges have arrived, we were quite at a blur state. Both of us kept asking each other, ” Do what now har? ” and we will reply, “dunno.” 5 minutes later, the pro guy in scrabble rules, briefed us. Most of us became ‘runners’. We were supposed to accept people’s ‘Challenge’ call and find if the word they want to challenge exist or not by using a programme in the computer instead of the old brown dictionary.

This was how the DSA main block looked like yesterday. So yellow.

All in there were 7 or 8 runners, all sports scholarship holders. Mostly are strangers to each other. Our conversation with all of them are mostly the same.

A: Hey, so what sport do you play?
B: Bowling/ swimming/ football. How about you?
A: Bowling/swimming/football
B: I see. you are from a levels isn’t it?
A: ya.
B: what intake?
A: A 49. You too?
B: yup.
Then it is freestyle from here.

Got to know a few people including our A levels Raja Pecut for athletics.

Got Rm 5 as allowance. Can’t even cover my lunch and transportation. Played chest with Chris, i was an easy kill. Said Hi to commander Tang. Had a ONE or TWO lines of conversation with Kalai, the assistant to Chris i think. Smile here and there. Always have to be aware whenever people want to raise their hand. Sometimes we were too engrossed with our running work, when they stretched their hands, we also ran to them thinking that they wanted to do a challenge. Uh Huh, that was what happened yesterday.

There was one guy from Taylor’s though. He looks very matured maybe about 28 years old. He is always smiling. Not the evil smile. And he always look at me. At first i thought because Dee and me are twins, but the i realised dee and me are at different area, so what is there to look? Anyway he is always looking at me. Kinda weird. Some times very weird.

Then there was another guy, always disturb dee. He called out for a challenge, so dee rushed to him. She gave him a paper to write down the word but after that he said “no need.” Since no need then she went “ok” and walk off lor. Then sudenly he said “Wait don’t go so fast yet” then he and his partner sort of like wait for the clock to tick or something like and were waiting for time to pass la for don’t know what reason. Then he said “You can look at my cute face if you are bored” Then he started to ask more question while waiting for time to pass. After a while then i think the clock started to work again? Then he let dee go back to her station… She don’t know his name but he introduced himself as The Nephew since dee’s name is The Niece.

Dee was complaining how there was one guy, a volunteer, came in the middle of the game. So as usual all the runners were set at their own station watching over their own area. But this guy, he was running from area to area snatching all the calls. Not to say we want to do the calls but he should stop coming when he sees someone going to the table! In the end it looked like as if they were fighting to get comission or something like that. She said he made her looked stupid. But she got used to it and she even told him where to go, so she just sat there doing nothing =)  

One thing bad about being a runner yesterday was we are not ScrabbleLERS. Because most of us didn’t know much about scrabble. Some asked, “what does it mean when the clock points at 25 second?” In my head i was like “it means 25 seconds had passed?!?!?” but i can’t answer her because i might be wrong. Some also asked, “How do you know when the game has ended?” When all these question pop out, we had to run to the pro scrabble guy. Sigh.

I don’t know how they can stand playing six rounds, one round after another. Won’t the brain get tired? It is like playing 6 games in a day for bowling, but 6 games is no problem to me. I will find that it is not enough instead. Haha. All in we worked from 830 to 5pm. Kind of hard working all of us since we actually don’t have to finish a stated number of hours.

Came home by 7pm. tired. sleepy.
