A Famosa Fort taken at Jonker’s Street.

Papa and mama took dee and me to Melaka last Saturday and Sunday. Bro had to stay home to finish his projects, so he missed out the fun. Papa and his Camry took us to the the historic city of Malaysia.

When we reached there, it was time for lunch. At Jonker street, there were 4 shops selling Chicken Rice Ball, only two of them were full house while the other two was empty. We had alot of time so dee and me wait in the queue while papa and mama stand in the shade. Dee and me kill time by munching our pineapple tarts. It was really fun waiting like that. I never waited to eat chicken rice like that before. Feels extra ordinary.

Chicken Rice Ball

We didn’t need to wait for long, just about 20 minutes then we got our table. The waiter was friendly so as the carpark man. So are Melaccans really friendly? I don’t know, but they look like they are. So Chicken rice ball was in our tummy. The chicken was actually just normal, nothing spectacular, but the rice was quite fragrant. My mom says that. I don’t care. I just ate what was in front of me.

Then we spend most of our afternoon at Jonker street. It is one of the coolest street i have seen in my life before. It is a very happening place. There are many cendol stalls, art galeries, handcraft stalls, kebaya stall, funeral parlors, bistro and many more. So many things happening at the same time. And i always thought Melaka is quite boring.

At the Chendoll stall

We ate cendol at Jonker street in an old man stall. It was one of the shoplots there and his shop is really old but clean, its more like a house.

After exploring that area, we passed by many shoplots which looks so old but still functioning. We went to a chinese tea shop and Heong peng shop (fragrant biscuit).

Then we went to Hang Li Po’s well. I felt like going there because i went there when i was young. I like that well. So we went there. We didn’t make a wish though.

Then we went to the Stadhuy’s Building, or church. I forgot. Haha. Anyway its the red building. And we walked here and there. Stopped at some shop to have a drink just by the river. The river is clean.

About 5pm something we left for dinner. We wanted to eat Satay Celup, so we were near a restaurant where many tourist visit. About 6pm there was a long queue formed already and we joined in as well. Waited about an hour to get our table. This time it wasn’t really fun waiting because it was crowded and it was hot and i felt dizzy. Satay celup wasn’t nice, it was quite horrible actually, and the peanut sauce was boiling and bubbling and squirt its oil on our hands. Actually the satay celup was ok, just that the sauce was not good. Very messy and painful. Not satisfied.

We went to shop for some breakfast for the next day after dinner. Very tired.

The next day we went back to Jonker street to have some breakfast. Breakfast was ok, we eat Nyonya assam laksa and lobak. Then, we had baba nyonya food for lunch.

We left the city about 2pm. We wanted to visit the Heleolithic Stones near Tampin. While on the way to the stones, we wanted to visit the British Graveyard at Alor Gajah. But due to bad maps and road signage, we couldn’t find any of these places except Dol Said’s Tombstone. But at Jonker street we saw Hang Kasturi’s Tombstone. It was in the middle of the busy street but no one took notice of it.

So after three 2 hours of wondering around the state of Melaka looking for stones and graveyards, we gave up and head towards seremban to have our dinner there.
