Zhi Wei used to buy them and give us all during classes. But now cannot eat it any more because it is not as innocent as it used to be anymore. In fact, very not inno anymore… We eat them during LAN classes, science practicals, and even biology classes. It was very yummy. The rabbit bonded us all.

We would take the rice paper off and eat them first. Then it would stick to our mouth. Then placing the rabbit at the tip of your tongue and flip it into your mouth. After that, close your mouth and start sucking like mad. Chew to increase surface area and for bursting of aroma in the mouth.

Use the tongue to collect in between teeth to re ball the rabbit. Then, suck again. Continue until the sweet disappears. A slight milky taste lingers in the mouth. Drink water and start with another rabbit.

Yesterday we went singing! Yes i know! We sing! Amazing huh? Papa and mama said they never heard us sang before.

Ivan is leaving for Imperial College so it was a bye bye meeting for us. So what to do? We sing! We went karaoke!

We went to The Curve’s Red Box together with Clement and Leo. We sang maybe about 50 songs or more? We were there for 3 1/2 hours. It was fun! Clement reminded us about those chilhood songs which we have forgotten such as Cartoon Heroes! Then we tried to sing Heya and the two guys started dancing like the back up singers… Then we sang Spice girls and we were all helping out each other in singing the fast fast parts. Clement was shouting “spice up your life!” and we sang the following verse. Funny… Then char picked My Humps and Leo got a bit disturbed when we started singing all the asses and lumps and humps.

Then we sang gemilang and all 3 guys applaused!!! Then Clement and Ivan keep singing songs which they had to scream. Leo came with a cough and left without one. So cool right?

Then there were some songs without the lyrics but we still managed to sing them. It was nice. We felt like stars… glimmering in the dark room. So by the end of the day, char and i lost part of our voice. Ta daa~

A Famosa Fort taken at Jonker’s Street.

Papa and mama took dee and me to Melaka last Saturday and Sunday. Bro had to stay home to finish his projects, so he missed out the fun. Papa and his Camry took us to the the historic city of Malaysia.

When we reached there, it was time for lunch. At Jonker street, there were 4 shops selling Chicken Rice Ball, only two of them were full house while the other two was empty. We had alot of time so dee and me wait in the queue while papa and mama stand in the shade. Dee and me kill time by munching our pineapple tarts. It was really fun waiting like that. I never waited to eat chicken rice like that before. Feels extra ordinary.

Library.

Chicken Rice Ball

We didn’t need to wait for long, just about 20 minutes then we got our table. The waiter was friendly so as the carpark man. So are Melaccans really friendly? I don’t know, but they look like they are. So Chicken rice ball was in our tummy. The chicken was actually just normal, nothing spectacular, but the rice was quite fragrant. My mom says that. I don’t care. I just ate what was in front of me.

A speaker.

Then we spend most of our afternoon at Jonker street. It is one of the coolest street i have seen in my life before. It is a very happening place. There are many cendol stalls, art galeries, handcraft stalls, kebaya stall, funeral parlors, bistro and many more. So many things happening at the same time. And i always thought Melaka is quite boring.

At the Chendoll stall

We ate cendol at Jonker street in an old man stall. It was one of the shoplots there and his shop is really old but clean, its more like a house.

Beca. Trishaw.

After exploring that area, we passed by many shoplots which looks so old but still functioning. We went to a chinese tea shop and Heong peng shop (fragrant biscuit).

Tea shop.

Then we went to Hang Li Po’s well. I felt like going there because i went there when i was young. I like that well. So we went there. We didn’t make a wish though.

Choo choo Train

Then we went to the Stadhuy’s Building, or church. I forgot. Haha. Anyway its the red building. And we walked here and there. Stopped at some shop to have a drink just by the river. The river is clean.

The queue in front of the Satay Celup restaurant.

About 5pm something we left for dinner. We wanted to eat Satay Celup, so we were near a restaurant where many tourist visit. About 6pm there was a long queue formed already and we joined in as well. Waited about an hour to get our table. This time it wasn’t really fun waiting because it was crowded and it was hot and i felt dizzy. Satay celup wasn’t nice, it was quite horrible actually, and the peanut sauce was boiling and bubbling and squirt its oil on our hands. Actually the satay celup was ok, just that the sauce was not good. Very messy and painful. Not satisfied.

A guest house

We went to shop for some breakfast for the next day after dinner. Very tired.

The next day we went back to Jonker street to have some breakfast. Breakfast was ok, we eat Nyonya assam laksa and lobak. Then, we had baba nyonya food for lunch.

Papa got saman because he didn’t get a parking coupon.

We left the city about 2pm. We wanted to visit the Heleolithic Stones near Tampin. While on the way to the stones, we wanted to visit the British Graveyard at Alor Gajah. But due to bad maps and road signage, we couldn’t find any of these places except Dol Said’s Tombstone. But at Jonker street we saw Hang Kasturi’s Tombstone. It was in the middle of the busy street but no one took notice of it.

So after three 2 hours of wondering around the state of Melaka looking for stones and graveyards, we gave up and head towards seremban to have our dinner there.

Marmite Crabs

Fish Head Noodles

Roasted Chicken with Fish Paste

We were craving for some Marmite Crabs. This time we managed to find the restaurant and the crabs were really good and yami. Each of us had one crab each one crab each one crab. Haha. Usually one family share two crabs, but we managed to finish all the crabs because it was just so yami.

Pineapple tarts shop.

Then we headed home with smiles on our face.

We got ourselves some Dragon Flies.

How to make your own photo album without actually buying a photo album.

1. Get you own clear folder at your nearest stationary shops. I don’t know what do people call it but it look like this:

This was what my college mates used to keep their notes and certs. But i use it to keep my photo graphs.

2. Get your photographs ready. My photographs are mostly saved in the computer so i printed them. Cut them nicely and do not throw the papers which the photos are not printed on. You can use it to write captions.

3. You will need many pieces of paper to paste your photographs. You can use old newspaper where there are not much photos of our current ministers and models, use the pages which are mostly filled with words. Or you can use your Astro magazine. Scissors and glue.

4. Paste them on the piece of paper. Paste them how you like it.

5. You can add some captions on each photo if you want. It makes each photo has a story of its own when you see it next time in the future.

6. Slip them into the folder.

Tadah! A photo album which look like a scrap book!

This is a good way to keep your photographs which cannot be fitted into conventional photoalbums due to the odd shape of the photographs.

It is quite fun to do it. I did this about 3 days straight.

Looking at our face and our behaviours, being little girls, no one thinks that we ‘worked’ before, or rather ‘got employed’. Normally humans around our age are sales assistants etc already but we are still at home playing with mon mon. If we tell people we are 19 already, they will shake their heads and tell us we still behave like babies =) one uncle said “people 19 year old already got boyfriend loh”.

But the truth is, i did feel that i worked before. It doesn’t matter voluntary jobs or being paid, i still feel that i did feel the feeling of working. First of all, we used to bowl alot last time. Represented the state sometimes. We had to work hard for it, train hard and musn’t bowl terribly. It was very pressurizing and tiring. Have to constantly be the top few to get selected. We sacrificed many things in order to bowl and we undergo alot of complications, which i guess is similar to being a professional bowler. We worked hard to get sponsored. If we win, we get money prize and the state will give us some cash too. So that was one of my ‘working experience’.

Blue butterflies!

Then sometimes when there are bowling competitions, we became the lane marshalls. The pay wasn’t much and it was so boring. We helped the blind bowlers. Got scolded for not knowing how to handle the blind properly. That was one of it.

Then we also became one of the course assistants in OBS. In all of the assistants i’ve heard eg. sales assistant, doc’s assistant, cook’s assistant and what ever assistants, this OBS course assistants kick ass the most. We were there for 14 days, worked from 0630 to 2400. baby sitting kids from age 15-17. No doubt they are pretty old but it’s not as easy as it seems. Instructors use us like mad because they want to get their naps too =) i was being lazy once but that got people talking about me. haha. I wasn’t as enthusiastic as the other CA’s so i didn’t join them to check up on the kids loh. That’s all. I wanted to sleep in my hammock more only. By the end of the course we only got RM 50 because we were there as volunteers!! So curi tulang abit also cannot? haha. To future CA’s, steal as much bones as you can because you are doing them a favour not the other way round!

Hardworking hammy eating. It is working too you know.

Then we also worked for our sports scholarship in college too. We must bowl for college to get the sponsorship, so we ‘worked’ there too. Some times had to help out in other sport events because we were still under the scholarship.

There were more.. but can’t remember. But most are voluntary. hahaha. i define those as work! For fun only mar. Not that working in shopping malls are serious. Some wants money, some wants experience. I would prefer experience more that doing a boring job earning money. It is a kind of way of wasting time too but people don’t really admit that. wee~ wanted to count the jumping hornbills as well but too bad its too far. Hornbills when they jump they look very cute =) coz their legs are furry.

Chinese who doesn’t know how to speak chinese in malaysia are called as bananas.

Do you know that is really rude and insulting????? Yea, my siblings and I are so called bananas.

We were brought up in national type schools, we don’t know chinese, we don’t know how to read or write chinese, but we know cantonese because our parents speak cantonese as well besides english.

There are chinese who hate bananas because they feel ashamed that we are part of the chinese community. They feel we shouldn’t call our self chinese.

People make fun of us. Talk bad about us. How i know? They usually do that in front of us in chinese, and when they do that usually i can understand what they are saying. It is really magic.

But you know what i find is really ironic is sometimes bananas are even more chinese than those chinese who are not bananas. They think they ‘tai sai’ just because they can talk in mandarin, read and write in chinese. Some of them don’t even know how to use chopstick, don’t even know the chinese culture, don’t even know the difference between chinese food from different clans. They don’t know the taboo things about chinese culture, chinese folklore, and can’t list down the name of common chinese tea drank in malaysia and more. Although my parents don’t know chinese, but they taught us all of these from the meaning of Chinese New Year to the art of drinking chinese tea.

But i don’t insult them. Why? Because my parents exposed us to chinese culture while their parents didn’t. So they didn’t get the chance to learn. My parents were not exposed to chinese and there fore they don’t know so they can’t teach us the language.

There was once, i went for a camp, and my team mates were chinese, i was so surprised how much i know about chinese culture compared to them when they speak chinese at home while i speak english at home. They were asking me the meaning about the chinese festivals in malaysia.

So you tell me who is more chinese?

If people want to compare in these ways, well shame on them. We can have a chopstick battle and see who wins.

=P

Few weeks ago, i told myself i want to get myself a job. My mom got me a job in her office but got to work until december. Who wants to work until december. haha, i thought of working for just 2 or 3 months only, not 4 or 5 months.

Last week, my dad sent me an email about a volunteering job for Malaysia Nature Society at Belum-Temenggor, Perak. It was just a 4 days voluntering thing. But going to that area is quite hard. Few busses go there. Got to take a taxi from the bus stop to Bandung’s public jetty after the bus ride. But that job suits both of us well. The job was to count hornbills in the jungle (something like that), need to be a person who loves outdoor and jungle, can stand trekking in jungle, able to live in an area with very basic things and more. Sounds so exciting. I love to do it. haha in the end i am at home here. I just don’t like traveling using buses. I get scared. haha.

From that day, i told myself i don’t want to get myself a job. I just want to relax for the 6 months. Getting a job for what? get all stressed up for nothing, which is totally the opposite thing which i want during this break.

Last friday, dee and me went to KLCC. It was about 0945 hours. We just stare at people walking pass us. Most of them were rushing to work, most of them were not there to shop. But the thing was we saw people just rushing pass us. They didn’t notice us but we noticed them. Then i remember many of my friends asked me why i waste my time now, not doing anything? Many of them are in universities, chasing their dreams, trying to run faster than time, trying as fast as possible to finish their degree to earn money..

I have a dream, but i know sometimes when you are too into catching your dreams, once you get there, you feel empty. I don’t want to do that, because i know i love my life more than my dream. My dream is just a way to earn money to survive, which actually meant to eat and survive in this money minded world. People always tell me i should quickly earn money, they sound like i have not much time.

Actully who knows when we will die, it could be tomorrow, or the day after, or you might even live until 100 years old. So nobody knows. I don’t see any reason why should we rush, besides i am only taking a break for 6 months, not like it 2 or 3 years. The goal for this 6 months is to be as happy as possible before i start my uni and study like crazy.

So in the end, i stay home. I read my story books, clean the house, eat, play with my cat, follow my cat around the house, chase my cat around the house, collect rain water when it rains, collect paper to sell to the recycling center so i can get extra pocket money, ask my mom what she wants me to do for her, sms my friend, go online to kill time, greet my mom and dad with a happy face when they come hom from work, enjoy the rest of my day and more. Feels like a young kid once again.

So carefree, so happy, so ‘hang fook’.

So tell me, rush for what?
